A long silence had prevailed on the Crysis 4 front. Most recently, in February 2025, we learned that the game’s development process had been halted and Crytek had shifted all its focus to Hunt: Showdown 1896. Prior to that, we also reported that the game’s director had quietly left. Since then, almost no sound had come from the Crytek front. Until now.
Crytek is Looking for a Development Director for an Unannounced Project
Crytek has published a new job posting on its official career page under the “Unannounced Project” tag. The company is seeking an experienced Development Director to lead the delivery of a game development project being carried out in its Frankfurt office.

There are some striking details in the posting:
- The position will report directly to the COO (Chief Operating Officer).
- The candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of the project.
- Critical areas such as budget management, schedule planning, and quality control are within the scope of responsibility.
- A minimum of 10+ years of large-scale game development experience is required.
- There is a requirement to have shipped at least one game from inception to release.
- The candidate must be willing to relocate to Frankfurt, Germany.
What Could This Project Be?
Of course, we do not know exactly what this project is. Looking at Crytek’s portfolio, there are a few possibilities: It could be Hunt 2, a sequel to the Hunt: Showdown series. It could be the long-rumored Ryse 2. Or it could be a completely new IP.
However, considering the timing and conditions, the most logical possibility is that this is Crysis 4. When Crytek shelved Crysis 4 in November 2024, they stated that the game was not completely canceled, but only its development process was frozen. A Development Director posting could indicate that the project is being restructured and brought back to life.
What Does This Mean?
It’s useful to be cautious. A job posting may not necessarily mean that a game has entered the development process again. Perhaps Crytek is working on a completely different project. But at least this can be said: Crytek is planning to do something new beyond Hunt: Showdown 1896. This is a positive signal coming after 1.5 years of silence.
We will share any developments with you as they occur.
